Federation Bridge Closure
Residents and Landholders are advised that repair works to the Federation Bridge Flood Gauge are to be carried out on 14 February 2018 from 10am to 1pm, weather permitting.
The work zone will close the entire bridge therefore, Murwillumbah Road will be closed at the Bridge for the duration of the works.
Traffic will not be permitted on Federation Bridge during the proposed works because a crane will be placed on the road closing both lanes.
Access to properties will not be interrupted however, an alternative route will be required. The attached map shows the proposed alternative routes available.
Council regrets any inconvenience caused by these essential works. Should you require any further information or assistance with regard to this matter, please do not hesitate to contact James Flockton at a time of your convenience on 02 6626 7158.

Eureka Road Bridge Load Limit Reduced to 15 tonnes
Update as of: 3 March 2017
Eureka Road Bridge load limit will be reduced to under 15 tonnes (gross vehicle mass) from Monday, 6 March.
The speed limit has also been reduced to 20 km per hour.
Signage and traffic control is in place at the bridge location. Interim speed humps will be installed to encourage low speeds.
An embankment slip has occurred at the site and independent geotechnical engineers have recommended the interim safety measures. Planning is underway for geotechnical investigations to identify options for the stabilisation of the landslip.
At 15 tonnes, school bus services, waste collection vehicles and emergency services vehicles will not be affected.
An interim set of traffic lights installed last week have been decommissioned after expensive batteries were stolen with the aid of cutting tools.
Council would appreciate if anyone has witnessed this theft, knowledge about the theft, or sees future tampering with safety equipment and signs, to report it to the Police and Council staff.
Council apologises for the inconvenience to the travelling public and appreciates your cooperation.

Causeways
Durrumbul #2 Causeway - Due to the rain over the past few days and with more rain forecast over the weekend, we will be removing the safety barriers and pedestrian walkway for safety reasons and to preserve them from washing down the river.
The Roads & Bridge Engineer will be at the site with Council staff at 3pm this afternoon, 1 December 2017, to ensure the safety of school children using the walkway. After the school peak usage time, Council will be removing the items.
The Roads & Bridge Engineer will also notify residents via email and phone the school to advise of the walkway's removal.
